The Senior Mason at MainStay Landscape is a highly skilled craftsperson responsible for leading and executing complex masonry projects with precision, efficiency, and artistry. This role supports a wide range of hardscape installations and plays a key part in maintaining the company’s high standards of quality while mentoring junior team members in best-practice masonry techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced masonry work including layout, cutting, fitting, and setting stone, brick, block, and veneer
  • Lead installation of patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, and custom stone features
  • Operate masonry tools and equipment safely and efficiently, including saws, mixers, grinders, and compactors
  • Ensure proper site preparation, grading, and drainage for all masonry projects
  • Provide on-site leadership, guidance, and training for junior masons, installers, and laborers
  • Assist with project planning, including material takeoffs, tool preparation, and site setup
  • Monitor project progress to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail
  • Uphold company quality standards across all masonry work
  • Follow all company and industry safety protocols

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven experience in masonry, stonework, and hardscape installation
  • Mastery of masonry techniques including dry stone, mortared stone, veneer, and brick/block installation
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, grading, and drainage
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and site plans
  • Experience leading crews and mentoring less experienced team members
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency operating masonry and construction equipment
  • Hoisting License preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
